Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials have unearthed Rs 21.75 lakh in cash, 602 gms of gold and other incriminating documents during interception and house searches of Ashish Kumar Dash, Superintending Engineer, Rural Works Division No.1 of Malkangiri.
Based on credible information about Dash carrying huge ill-gotten money, Vigilance officials intercepted Dash on Friday at 2.15 PM, said an official press release.
According to the press release, during interception Vigilance officials seized Rs 10,23,970 cash from his possession which he could not account for satisfactorily.
Following the interception, anti-graft agency officials conducted house searches at the residential government quarter of Dash and his office at Malkangiri.
During the house search, further cash, gold, silver and documents pertaining to assets were recovered.
In total cash of Rs 21,75,470 and 602 gms gold including 17 gold coins of 10 gm, each has been recovered during the search.
Vigilance officials have recovered documents pertaining to the purchase of a flat at Barang in Cuttack by Dash Rs 32, 30,480 and purchase of land at Baripal in his wife’s name worth.
The anti-graft agency officials have also recovered a large number of investment and bank deposit documents made by Dash in various accounts.
The same documents are being examined further, the press release said.
