Sambalpur: Enforcement Department (ED) officials continued their raid at the residence of late Khirod Mallik, brother of former Odisha minister and Opposition Chief Whip Pramila Mallik, at Banipally in Sambalpur for the second day on Thursday.

On Wednesday, ED officials launched simultaneous searches at three locations linked to Khirod Mallik, including his residence and offices of BISWA, an NGO formed by Mallik, in Odisha and Delhi. The searches continued till late night yesterday and resumed today morning. It is not clear what important documents were seized by the ED during the raid yesterday.

It is worth mentioning here that Kshirod Mallik availed loans from several public sector and private banks but did not repay the amount. It is alleged that he used the Rs 231 crore taken in loans for various purposes, including funding elections.

The NGO BISWA has been closed for some years now.
