Bhubaneswar: The Indian Railways has sanctioned a total of Rs 60.93 crore for the comprehensive redevelopment of three key railway stations in Odisha—Hirakud, Bargarh Road, and Panposh (Rourkela)—under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
The announcement was made by the East Coast Railway (ECoR) through its official handle on X (formerly Twitter). The initiative aims to enhance station infrastructure, passenger amenities, and accessibility across these locations.
Hirakud Railway Station has been sanctioned Rs 22.87 crore. Planned upgrades include the construction of a 12-meter-wide Foot Over Bridge (FOB), improved toilet facilities, installation of two passenger lifts, Divyangjan-friendly infrastructure, and coach indication boards to provide real-time train information.

Bargarh Road Railway Station has been sanctioned Rs 23.84 crore. The redevelopment will feature modernization of the station’s front façade, a 12-meter-wide FOB, 15-bay platform shelters, two passenger lifts, and standardized signage for improved passenger guidance.

Panposh Railway Station, located in Rourkela, has been sanctioned Rs 14.22 crore. The station will undergo platform surface improvements, front façade enhancement, installation of two modern lifts, upgraded toilets, and Divyangjan-friendly facilities to ensure inclusivity.
