Bhubaneswar: Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack today sentenced retired Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Nemalo Police Station in Cuttack district Prana Krushna Naik to undergo two years rigorous imprisonment (RI) after convicting him for demanding and accepting a bribe from a complainant to make a compromise in a disputed matter.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 and in default of payment of the fine, Naik has to undergo further RI for six months more for the offence under sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) and 7 of PC Act, 1988.
The release added that Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the stoppage of pension of Naik following his conviction.
