Bhubaneswar: Samaya Sahu, a young Indian-American from Mayurbhanj district, Odisha, is creating a stir in the US political scene. As the youngest lifetime executive committee member of the New Hampshire Democratic Party (NHDP), Samaya is currently campaigning for Kamala Harris in the upcoming presidential election.
Born in the US to a family from Odisha, Samaya developed an interest in politics at a tender age. He attended his first political campaign with his father at just three-and-a-half years old, supporting Barack Obama in 2007. This sparked a passion that led him to attend Hillary Clinton’s campaign in 2015 and Joe Biden’s in 2019.
Samaya made history in July 2022 by becoming the youngest officer in NHDP’s history, working to organize Democratic initiatives across New Hampshire. His dedication to mobilizing voters has earned him recognition, including representing New Hampshire as a delegate at the Democratic Convention in Chicago.
Now, as part of the youth wing of the Democratic Party, Samaya is actively campaigning for Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election. “I focus on the challenges and opportunities faced by youths in the US and advocate for Kamala Harris’s policies,” Samaya stated in an interview with a prominent English daily, highlighting his commitment to amplifying the voices of his generation in the political process.
Samaya’s achievements have bridged the distance between Odisha and America, making him a prominent figure in US politics. His role in Joe Biden’s presidential campaign was instrumental in his victory, and he continues to inspire with his passion and dedication.
