Bhubaneswar: Samba Dashami, a significant festival in the State, is being celebrated across the State with Surya Puja being performed in every household.
Konark’s Chandrabhaga beach is bracing for the mega festival, attracting thousands of pilgrims and tourists who gathered to witness the sunrise over the sea and offer prayers to the Sun God.
On the occasion of Samba Dasami, the Surya Rath Yatra and Soura Mahayagna are being performed in Konark. The Surya Ratha Yatra will continue for 27 days in Chandrabhaga, drawing tourists from far and wide.
According to legend, Samba, the son of Lord Krishna, was afflicted with leprosy and was cured by the Sun God Surya after 12 years of penance near Konark. On this day, mothers pray to the Sun God for the health and well-being of their children.
