Bhubaneswar: The mother of Sambalpuri singer and album actress Ruksana Bano, who succumbed to a prolonged ailment at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar on September 18, have lodged an FIR at the Bhawanipatna Town police in Odisha’s Kalahandi district alleging that her daughter was a victim of slow poisoning. Five persons, including singer Ruku Sana and two doctors have been named in the FIR.

It is worth mentioning here that Ruksana fell ill while shooting for a music album in Bolangir and was admitted to a hospital on August 27. As her condition did not improve, she was shifted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir around and then to a private hospital in Bargarh. She was finally admitted to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar in a critical condition and succumbed to her ailments on September 18.

In her complaint, Ruksana’s mother has alleged that the accused had mixed some poison with her soft drinks while she was shooting for the music album in Bolangir. Consequently, she fell ill and could not recover from her condition.

Ruksana’s mother and sister have demanded that the police probe Ruksana’s death and the court mete out stern punishment to the guilty. “I am a widow and raised my children with great difficulty and now they have snatched my child from me,” Ruksana’s mother told the media.
