Puri: Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has created a magnificent 7-foot-high, 15-foot-long sand sculpture at Puri Beach to mark Rashtriya Nav Varsh. The sculpture bears the inscription ‘Swagatam Rashtriya Nav Varsh’.
Pattnaik took to X to share his artwork, wishing everyone a joyful and blessed Hindu New Year.
He wrote: “Wishing you and your family a joyful and blessed #HinduNewYear. Here’s my sand art with the message Swagatam #RashtriyaNavVarsh at Puri Beach in Odisha. Celebrating tradition, culture, and new beginnings.”
Rashtriya Nababarsha (Hindu New Year), celebrated on March 19, 2026, marks the beginning of Vikram Samvat 2083 on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada. It is a significant cultural and religious occasion in India, representing the start of the Hindu lunar calendar, new beginnings, and the spring season.
According to Hindu scriptures, this day is regarded as the day Lord Brahma began the creation of the universe, making it an extremely auspicious time for new ventures.
