Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra, a sitting judge of the High Court of Orissa, as the next Chief Justice of the High Court of Chhattisgarh.
The recommendation was made at a meeting of the Supreme Court Collegium held on August 6, 2026, according to a statement issued by the Collegium.
Justice Mohapatra has been recommended for the post in view of the impending retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court on September 4, 2026.
Justice Mohapatra was elevated to the Orissa High Court on April 17, 2015. He had enrolled as an advocate with the Orissa State Bar Council on February 7, 1988.
Over the years, he has practised in various branches of law, including civil, criminal, service and constitutional matters, and has more than two decades of experience in the legal field.
If the recommendation is approved, Justice Mohapatra will assume office as the Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court.
