Cuttack: Junior doctors of SCB Medical College will work wearing black badges from tomorrow. The protest is being held in support of the Odisha Medical Service Association’s proposed strike.

The SCB Junior Doctors Association President confirmed this information. The association has issued a strong warning of agitation if OMSA’s 10-point demands are not met. Earlier, OMSA had announced that government doctors across the state will stop work from July 1, observed as Doctors’ Day, and resign en masse, citing long-pending demands.

OMSA said the decision was taken after its 10-point charter of demands was not met despite multiple discussions with the government. The demands include cadre restructuring, pay scale increase to Level 15, a transparent transfer policy, KBK exit policy, incentives for dentists, insurance coverage, and enhanced security for doctors.

According to the association, repeated talks with the government have not led to any concrete steps so far. As a result, doctors working in all government hospitals in the state have warned of a complete work stoppage from July 1.In addition, OMSA has warned that OPD services will be closed next Wednesday.

The move comes after the police allegedly did not take “any special action” following an attack on a doctor working at the Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital.

The association said the protest aims to press for immediate redressal of issues affecting doctors and healthcare delivery in the state.
