Bhubaneswar: With an objection to spreading massive awareness on HIV/AIDS, World AIDS Day was observed at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on Sunday.
The day was observed with the theme ‘Take the Rights Path’.
A special event was organised in front of the office of the Dean at 3 PM on Sunday to raise awareness about AIDS and the importance of addressing stigma in society along with support to those affected by the disease.
The event was marked by a rally, road show, meeting, and street play. The programme was coordinated by UG Students’ Union advisor Deba Prasad Mohanty and president Pramad Satpathy. Students, faculty members, ART centre members, and several HIV/AIDS patients also took part in the programme. Patients also learned various methods of HIV prevention from the street play enacted by the students, said Prof Jayant Panda, Head of the Department of Medicine.
The programme organised by the UG Students’ Union brought together students, and faculty members to deliberate on the importance of HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention.
The celebration also included a series of talks by senior medicine experts, who shared their insights on the latest developments in HIV prevention, treatment, and care.
The programme empowered staff with practical knowledge, ensuring workplace safety.
