Bhubaneswar: A doctor at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, was intercepted by Odisha Vigilance officials today, while carrying Rs. 2,63,000 in unaccounted cash on his Hero Honda Activa Scooter.
The incident occurred at Kathagolasahi-Medical Road in Cuttack as Dr. Sanatana Behera, Associate Professor of Hepatology was heading to his government quarters.
The vigilance team seized the cash after Dr. Behera failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the source of the funds. Searches are underway at three locations linked to Dr. Behera, and he is being examined to determine the origin of the money.
A case has been registered against Dr. Behera under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018, with Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No 4/2026.
