Koraput: The possibility of commencement of Scheduled commercial flight operation from Jeypore Airport has moved a step further.
Following the inspection by a two-member team from the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Wednesday and detailed inspection of both outside and inside the airport premises by a team of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) today, Bhaskar Chandra Samantaray, Executive Engineer, Works Department, Jeypore said that he is hopeful of complying with the DGCA’s recommendations by the end of this month.
Responding to queries from reporters on the 67 lapses/defects pointed out by the DGCA team during inspection and review, Samantaray clarified that those are not defects but amendments as per the continuous updation of the DGCA’s airport manual till a licence is granted. He said work on those points has been already taken up and they have justified the DGCA team on that.
“We are expecting the licence this month but we can’t give a particular date till we get the licence. Work has been completed,” informed Samantaray.
The DGCA’s report is expected this week, he added.
BCAS Deputy Director Praveen said that security at the airport has been reviewed as per RCS (Regional Connectivity Scheme-UDAN) guidelines.
“From our side, the report will be positive,” Praveen added.
Jeypore Tahasildar Pradhani Tulli Amma has informed that the points raised during the inspection by the visiting teams are minor issues and will be complied with soon.
