Bhubaneswar: In view of the prevailing intense heatwave conditions across Odisha, the District Collectors of Angul, Khordha, and Deogarh have announced the closure of all government and private schools as well as Anganwadi centres starting from tomorrow.
According to official notifications issued by the district administrations, Khordha and Deogarh districts will keep all educational institutions, including schools and Anganwadi centres, closed from April 20 to April 23.
In Angul district, schools and Anganwadi centres will remain closed from April 20 to April 22, 2026.The District Collectors have directed the concerned education officers to implement the order immediately, keeping in mind the health and safety of students, teachers, and staff amid the scorching heat.
If any examinations are scheduled during this period, they should be conducted in the morning hours only to avoid the peak afternoon heat.
This decision has been taken as a precautionary measure due to the severe heat-wave conditions prevailing in the state, with temperatures soaring and the India Meteorological Department issuing necessary warnings.
Parents and students are advised to stay hydrated and avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure during the day.
