in Breaking News, Odisha

Koraput: In view of the heavy rainfall prediction and thunderstorm warning issued by the Meteorological Department, the Koraput district administration has declared a holiday for all schools in the district on Saturday (September 27).

The decision has been taken to ensure the safety of students and avoid any inconvenience due to possible waterlogging on the way to schools. While schools will remain closed, teachers and other staff have been asked to report for duty and provide support to field officials if needed.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded a high alert for Odisha, warning of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds as a well-marked low-pressure area over the northwest and adjoining central Bay of Bengal persists and is expected to intensify into a depression in next 24 hours.
