Scorching Heatwave Expected In Odisha Today: 11 Districts Under Alert

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for Odisha districts, warning of significantly rising temperatures today.

Despite possible Kalbaisakhi showers in some areas, the state is expected to experience scorching heat, with temperatures likely to be soaring between 38°C to 41°C in several parts.

Going by the IMD prediction, scorching heat is expected to grip Odisha despite Kalbaisakhi showers in some areas. Temperatures are forecast to soar between 38°C and 41°C in several parts of the state.

The heatwave alert has been issued for multiple districts, with residents advised to take necessary precautions to stay safe. The sweltering conditions are expected to persist, with the mercury likely to rise significantly in the coming days.

The regional weather office has warned of intense heat and humidity in 11 districts of Odisha on Friday. The affected districts include Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.

On Thursday, temperatures soared above 38°C in 15 places across Odisha. Boudh recorded the highest temperature at 39.8°C, followed closely by Sambalpur at 39.6°C. Other hotspots included Titlagarh and Nayagarh at 39°C, Balangir at 39.2°C, and Khordha at 39°C. Jharsuguda, Hirakud, Sundargarh, and Baripada also experienced high temperatures, ranging from 38°C to 38.4°C. Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded relatively lower temperatures at 37.6°C and 37.8°C, respectively.
