Bhubaneswar: At least three persons including a minor girl died due to scrub typhus infection in Bargarh district within a week.
According to Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Nirupama Sarangi, the deceased were undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bargarh.
The victims have been identified as Saroj Pradhan (42) of Bungapali under Ambabhona block, Sakhi Pradhan (70) and Sikha Rana (16) of Padmapur.
“As many as 20 samples have been tested in this month out of which three have tested positive. Their condition is stable and they are being treated at home. Our team has investigated the death of three persons who were undergoing treatment at private hospitals. We are taking steps to spread awareness at PHC, CHC levels. Adequate test kits have been despatched to health centres for testing. We advised the patients to get them tested if fever continues for long days,” Sarangi said.
