Bhubaneswar: Security forces in Koraput on Friday foiled a plot by the Maoists to detonate an IED in Kusumput forest area.
The explosives laid, reportedly to target the security forces, was detonated safely by a team of Border Security Force (BSF) and the Koraput district police team at around 1:30 pm, three hours after the explosives were discovered from the forest.
Today at about 10:15 am, the operations party of COB Govindpalli led by Inspector Mohan Lal Saini, while carrying out aggressive ops, spotted an IED in Kusumput forest area reported the matter to Ajay Kumar, Commandant, 151 Bn, BSF.
Following this report, an extensive search was carried out which led to the discovery of one IED in a two litres steel container under a stone, laced with a bunch of wire under another stone approximately 5 meters away from first place, the police said.
At about 1:30 pm, the security forces destroyed the IED in situ, after taking due precautions. No damages to property or injury to any person was reported as the IED was destroyed at a distance of 1.5 kms from Bahadurguda village.
