Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, three Ghanaian nationals were found hiding on a ship at Paradip Port on Saturday.
As per reports, the ship, MV Great Sheng Wen, had arrived at the port from Hong Kong, and the trio was discovered during a routine security check.
The three individuals, identified as citizens of Ghana, were found hiding on the ship, which had a crew of 20 members. The purpose of their journey and how they managed to board the ship are still unknown.
An investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding their presence on the ship. The ship had arrived at Paradip Port carrying coal from Russia.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has taken the three Ghanaian nationals into custody and launched an inquiry to determine the lapses that allowed the trio to board the ship.
Meanwhile, the Immigration Department swiftly responded to the situation by issuing a notice to the Chinese ship, instructing it to refrain from docking at any additional Indian ports. Furthermore, the department ordered the ship to promptly offload its cargo and depart from Paradip port immediately.
