Bhubaneswar: A brazen attack claimed the life of senior lawyer and BJP leader in Berhampur. Two miscreants shot Pitabas Panda outside his Brahmanagar residence, striking him in the chest. He was rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
According to reports, Panda, a member of the Odisha State Bar Council, had attended a party meeting with senior BJP leaders in Golanthara earlier in the day and returned home in the afternoon. The motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident, while Panda’s relatives, colleagues, and members of the legal fraternity have gathered at the hospital. The assailants fled the scene on a bike.
