Cuttack: Monkey menace at Ghandikhal village under the Khuntuni forest area in Athagarh left seven people injured. The injured persons are, meanwhile, undergoing treatment at a hospital.

According to sources, villagers were in a state of panic after a rogue monkey unleashed a reign of terror in the area by going on a biting spree. The situation became so bad that villagers stopped venturing out due to the monkey menace.

Finding no other go, residents drew the attention of the Forest department to capture the rogue monkey. Accordingly, the Forest department roped in a special team from Nandankanan Zoo to capture the marauding monkey.

“The special team successfully captured the monkey using tranquillizers. The monkey would undergo a health check-up before being released into a forest”, said Khuntuni Ranger Nilamadhab Sahu.
