Bhubaneswar: Several persons were injured and more than 10 of them were critically injured following a head-on collision between two buses at Dudupalli chhak on the Sonepur-Sambalpur national highway on Friday evening.
The seriously injured persons have been admitted to the district headquarters hospital at Sonepur.
According to reports, a bus travelling from Birmaharajpur towards Sambalpur had a head-on collision with another bus coming from the opposite direction at Dudupalli chhak. Drivers and passengers of both the buses remained trapped following the accident.
Locals and Fire Service personnel rescued the passengers trapped inside the two buses. Fire Service personnel used gas cutters to cut open the mangled bodies of the buses to rescue the trapped passengers.
The condition of 10 injured passengers is stated to be critical.
