Bhubaneswar: The regional center of the India Meteorological Department here has predicted thunderstorms and lightning with light to moderate rainfall in several districts of Odisha on Sunday.
According to the weather forecast, a thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places in Kalahandi, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Kendrapara districts. The IMD has issued a yellow warning for these places.
In addition, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places in north interior Odisha, Sonepur, Bolangir, Boudh, and at a few places over the remaining districts of Odisha.
The forecasts suggest heavy rainfall across 12 districts of Odisha during the next four days.
IMD has further said that monsoon rain in Odisha is likely to intensify from August 15. A yellow warning has been issued to 10 districts in view of heavy to very heavy rainfall on August 15.
During this monsoon season, Odisha has recorded cumulative rainfall of 653 mm, which is 6% less than the expected 698.4 mm rainfall.
