Bhubaneswar: A dispute during a cricket match at Ravenshaw University in Cuttack escalated into a violent clash between two groups of students on Thursday, leaving several injured. The injured students were promptly rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) for treatment.

The incident occurred during a cricket match between residents of two boys’ hostels—East Hostel and Lalitgiri Hostel—on the university campus. The clash reportedly began over a disagreement regarding an umpire’s decision during the match. The argument quickly turned violent, with students from both sides sustaining injuries.

Upon receiving information, Malgodown police personnel and senior university officials arrived at the scene. They intervened to control the situation and ensured the injured students were taken to SCBMCH for medical attention.

The police have initiated an investigation into the incident and have increased patrolling on the university premises to prevent further unrest.
