Severe Heatwave Conditions Likely To Prevail Over Odisha During Next 5 Days

Bhubaneswar: Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are likely over districts of Odisha during the next five days, the regional center of the India Meteorological Department in Bhubaneswar said in its mid-day bulletin on Friday.

Due to prevailing mainly northwesterly/westerly dry air and high solar insolation day temperature are very likely to rise gradually by 2°C to 3°C at many places over the districts of Odisha during the next three days. Consequently the maximum temperatures (day temperatures) are likely to be above normal by 4 to 6°C over some districts of Odisha during next four to five days. People have been advised to take precautionary measure while going outside during peak hours of the day time between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm.

Weather forecast and warning for districts of Odisha:

Day 1 (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 27.04.2024)

Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur over the districts of Malkanagiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapari, Khorda, Puri and dry weather very likely to prevail over the remaining districts of Odisha.

RED WARNING: (BE ALERT)

Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Nuapada, and Angul.

ORANGE WARNING: (BE PREPARED)

Heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail in the districts of Sambalpur, Jajpur, Balasore, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Bolangir, Sonepur, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Khurda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Nabarangpur, and Deogarh.

YELLOW WARNING: (BE UPDATED)

Heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail over the districts of Bargarh, Rayagada, Koraput, Puri. Thunderstorm with lightning are very likely to occur over the districts of Malkanagiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapari, Khorda, and Puri.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 27.04.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 28.04.2024)

Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur over the districts of Malkanagiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapari, Khorda, Puri and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the remaining districts of Odisha.

RED WARNING: (BE ALERT)

Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail over the districts of Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Nuapada, and Angul.

ORANGE WARNING: (BE PREPARED)

Heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail in some places over the districts of Sambalpur, Jajpur, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Bolangir, Sonepur, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Khurda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Nabarangpur, Deogarh, Bargarh, and Rayagada.

YELLOW WARNING: (BE UPDATED)

Heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail over the districts of Koraput, Puri.

Thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur over the districts of Malkanagiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapari, Khorda, and Puri.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 28.04.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 29.04.2024)

Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha.

Heat wave to severe heat wave condition are very likely to prevail in the districts of Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Nuapada, Angul, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Jajpur, Khurda, and Cuttack.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 29.04.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 30.04.2024)

Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha.

Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Nuapada, and Angul.
