Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued ‘Orange’ warning indicating heatwave to severe heatwave condition very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Angul, Boudh, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh during the next 24 hours.
Similarly, heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at a few places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Khurda, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Koraput, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Malkangiri, and Nabarangpur during the corresponding period. The IMD has issued ‘Yellow’ warning for these districts.
Besides, light rain/thundershower is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati & dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours, the IMD said.
The weather agency warned that due to prevailing mainly Northwesterly/Westerly dry air and high solar insolation day temperature is very likely to be 40°C or above at most places over the districts of Odisha and likely to be above normal by 3 to 5°C over some districts of Odisha during next 2-3 days.
