Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) questioned seven job aspirants who had applied for the Odisha Police Sub-Inspector (SI) position at the CBI office in Bhubaneswar as part of an investigation into alleged recruitment irregularities.
The interrogation, which lasted around 11 hours, marked the first phase of the agency’s probe after taking over the case earlier this month.
The seven aspirants were released after the questioning, which is expected to be followed by further investigation. The CBI is likely to summon more individuals as part of the probe. The agency will cross-check the information provided by the aspirants with documents and electronic evidence collected so far.
The CBI’s investigation into the SI recruitment scam was triggered by a notification issued by the Government of India on November 11, authorising the agency to probe alleged irregularities in the recruitment process.
