Koraput: At least six people were seriously injured in a road accident triggered by dense fog in Koraput district on Sunday. The mishap occurred near Malipeta village under the Lamtaput block, where visibility was severely reduced due to heavy fog.
According to reports, a truck carrying chickens from Kundura rammed into a car amid poor visibility on the road. The impact left the car badly mangled. Six occupants of the car sustained serious injuries, including the driver whose condition is reported to be critical. Five of the injured are women.
Local villagers rushed to the scene immediately after the collision and helped rescue the injured from the damaged vehicle. An ambulance was later dispatched to the spot and shifted all the injured passengers to Baipariguda hospital for treatment.
Police reached the accident site soon after receiving information and have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the collision. Officials suspect that dense fog and low visibility played a major role in the accident.
