Bhubaneswar: A six-member central team has arrived in Bhubaneswar to investigate the fire incident that occurred at the Trauma Care ICU of SCB Medical College & Hospital on March 16, 2026.
The team includes Commandant Aditya Kumar from the National Disaster Management Authority; Prof. Dr. Arvind Kumar, Director, and Dr. Yogesh, CMO (DM Cell), from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare; Commandant Nagendra Sangram from the National Disaster Response Force; Fire Advisor Prashant Lonkar from the Ministry of Home Affairs; and Sunil Kumar Sahu, General Manager (T&C) of the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority.
According to official sources, the team held detailed discussions with senior officials of the medical college at the office of the Dean and Principal to assess the circumstances leading to the fire and evaluate existing safety protocols.
The visit is part of a comprehensive inquiry aimed at identifying lapses, if any, and recommending measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents in critical healthcare facilities.
