Bhubaneswar: Maitri Vihar Police have arrested six alleged members of the ‘Bhai Giri’ gang for their suspected involvement in violent activities, including an attack on a man with sharp weapons in the city, police said on Monday.
According to police, the gang members allegedly used fear and intimidation tactics to establish their dominance in the area and were involved in creating panic among residents. The accused reportedly attacked people using weapons such as knives, swords and machetes.
The arrests were made in connection with an attack on a man identified as Sachin Pradhan on July 4. Following the incident, Maitri Vihar Police launched an investigation and formed a special team to trace those involved in the attack.
The arrested persons are allegedly habitual offenders and have several previous criminal cases registered against them at different police stations under the Commissionerate Police limits.
A special team of Maitri Vihar Police Station is conducting raids to track down the remaining members of the gang. Efforts are also underway to dismantle the entire network of the gang.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
