Nuapada: Six persons of a family including a child were killed in a tragic accident at Sunsunia under Sadar block of Nuapada district on the Bargarh-Nuapada Biju Expressway after the Maruti Alto 800 car in which they were travelling hit a tree 10 feet down after skidding off the road today.
The deceased have been identified as Pradip Mallick (50), his wife Basanti Mallick (45), Shatrughan Pradhan (65), Jagadish Sahu (37) his son Manas Sahu (12), and the driver of the ill-fated car Suganath Bhoi (50).
They were residents of Rasoda village under Basana police limits of Mahasamund district of neighbouring state of Chhattisgarh. They were going to Sindhekela to attend a wedding when the accident occurred. All of them died on the spot.
Nuapada and Jonk police have rushed to the accident spot and a rescue operation is underway.
