Bhubaneswar: In the backdrop of recent wide speculation over a change of guard in the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), incumbent OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik has said the OPCC president’s post is not permanent, it is changed every two-three years.
There is a need for change, the sooner it happens the better, Patnaik added.
“Change of leadership is not a new thing. Change is needed, the sooner the better. In 2019 I had myself announced that I have tendered my resignation from the post. I am not denying that. But when AICC will take a call, depends on AICC,” said Patnaik to reporters today.
Patnaik stated that anyone who can manage and take the Congress party forward will be welcomed by the people.
If good sense prevails among the Congressmen and the AICC, they will choose a better person to lead the Congress in the State.
Immediately after the recently concluded panchayat and urban polls, there has been a fresh move for a change of the OPCC president.
Almost a week back senior Congress leader and Jeypore MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati had said that a new face should be there as the OPCC Chief.
Bahinipati had categorically stated that an MLA should be appointed for the post.
