Bhubaneswar: Odisha chief secretary PK Jena, whose tenure is ending today, got emotional on his last in office and sought an apology from the people of Odisha if he failed to meet their expectations.
In a series of posts on his ‘X’ handle, Jena said that he replied to many people to solve their problems through tweet. But, he still couldn’t respond to some due to certain limitations.
“I had lots of limitations to have replied to each one of you. Unlike many, I never had engaged an assistant or an agency to reply to all the tweets. I was doing everything myself. So couldn’t reply to many. Forgive me for that. Some I couldn’t answer due to limitations of Govt,” he stated through a tweet.
He further mentioned that wherever the system supported he tried his best to solve the problem. “I’m sorry if I couldn’t come up to the levels of expectations of some of you. Outside the govt, I will try to be with you to facilitate solutions to some of the problems people will face. Please count me in,” Jena said through a post on X.
He further said that some expectations were beyond his power. People think that a chief secretary can do everything. It’s not true.
“I’m bound by limitations of systems, processes & procedures, rules & regulations. Even if wanted to help in some cases, I couldn’t because of such limitations,” he added.
As he is entering a new phase of life, he sought everyone’s blessings to still contribute to the cause of the state as a common man. “I thank each one of you from the core of my heart,” he posted.
Notably, PK Jena, 1989 batch IAS officer, is retiring today. He will be replaced by 1990 batch officer Manoj Ahuja.
