Bhubaneswar: The southwest monsoon has entered Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed.
According to the Met Department, the monsoon has entered several coastal districts including Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, and Balasore. With the arrival of the monsoon, rainfall is likely to occur in some parts of North Odisha.
Meanwhile, the IMD has forecast light to moderate rain in various districts of the state till June 19.
Even before the official onset of the monsoon, many parts of Odisha have already been receiving pre-monsoon showers over the last few days.
The advancement of the southwest monsoon is expected to bring much-needed relief from the intense summer heat and benefit agricultural activities, particularly paddy transplantation across the state.
