Bhubaneswar: The southwest monsoon has set in over Odisha today bringing much needed relief from severe heatwave condition in the State.
The monsoon covered some parts of Malkangiri district of Odisha, stated an IMD bulletin.
“The Northern Limit of Monsoon now passes through 18.0°N/60°E, 18.0°N/65°E, 17.5°N/70°E, Harnai, Baramati, Nizamabad, Sukma, Malkangiri, Vizianagaram, 19.5°N/88°E, 21.5°N/89.5°E, 23°N/89.5°E and Islampur.,” the IMD release read.
Last year, the monsoon had arrived in the State on June 22 and on June 16 in 2022.
Meanwhile, hot and humid condition prevailed in most of parts in the State including the State Capital Bhubaneswar.
Normally, south-west monsoon arrives in the state around June 12. According to weather experts, severe cyclonic storm ‘Remal’ assisted the progress of the monsoon.
