Bhubaneswar: A speeding luxury car allegedly lost control and slammed into multiple vehicles near Palasuni in Bhubaneswar, resulting in a series of collisions that left four to five people injured in the wee hours of Thursday.
The car, reportedly travelling at over 150 kmph, first struck an Alto before crashing into a Swift Dzire and then two motorcycles. The successive impacts left three cars and two two-wheelers severely damaged, according to sources.
The injured were taken to Capital Hospital for treatment. One of the victims was later transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after his condition deteriorated.
Police suspect the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The multi-vehicle crash created panic among local residents and temporarily disrupted traffic in the area.
Upon being informed, Mancheswar police reached the spot soon after the incident, detained the driver and have started a probe to ascertain the circumstances leading to the crash.
