Khurdha: A devastating road accident occurred on National Highway 16 (NH-16) between Gangapada and Pitapalli on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Wednesday evening, claiming the lives of three people on the spot and leaving one critically injured.
According to preliminary reports, a speeding SUV collided with slow-moving trailer from behind in the stretch between Gangapada and Pitapalli. The impact was severe, resulting in the immediate death of three occupants of the SUV. The fourth person, who sustained serious injuries, was rushed to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for emergency treatment and is currently in critical condition.
Police rushed to the scene, cleared the debris, and diverted traffic as the highway saw temporary disruptions. The bodies of the deceased have been shifted to hospital for post-mortem examination.
The exact identities of the victims are yet to be officially confirmed, and investigations are underway to determine the cause of the crash. Police have registered a case and are probing further.
