Bhubaneswar: A spotted deer (Chitra Harina) was rescued from a pond in Ananta village near Astaranga in Puri district on Saturday.
According to reports, the deer had wandered into the village at night in search of food from the Astaranga forest area. In the morning, when villagers spotted the animal, it panicked and jumped into a pond. A group of local youths rushed in to rescue it and informed the Forest Department.
Upon receiving the information, officials from the Astaranga Forest Department reached the spot and took custody of the rescued deer.
