Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea along and off the Odisha Coast today due to squally weather conditions.
As per IMD prediction, wind speeds are expected to reach 60-70 kmph, gusting up to 80 kmph, with rough to very rough sea condition. That’s why, fishermen have been aware of venturing into the sea.
The weather office has forecast that thunderstorms accompanied by rain and strong winds will continue to affect several parts of Odisha till April 10.
According to the IMD, light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely in many districts on Tuesday. The districts expected to receive rain include Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
People have been advised to remain cautious during thunderstorms, especially in open areas, and avoid taking shelter under trees or near electrical poles.
