Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a gradual rise in temperatures across Odisha by 3-5°C over the next 4-5 days. In response, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has issued an advisory to district collectors.
The districts at risk include Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, and Balangir, where temperatures have already reached 37°C and above today.
The temperatures in these districts are likely to increase further to around 40°C or higher in some areas over the next five days.
District Collectors have been instructed to spread the warning to the public. The SRC’s advisory mentions that while the heat is manageable for most people, it can pose health risks to vulnerable groups, including infants, the elderly, and sick persons.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions, especially when outdoors during the afternoon.
The SRC has also urged all District Collectors to closely monitor the situation and take appropriate action.
