Bhubaneswar: A young girl, who was undergoing treatment at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), after being stabbed by a miscreant at Dinapali under Ainthapali police limits in Sambalpur district on May 14, succumbed to injuries on Tuesday.
According to sources, Payal Das and her mother were heading towards their shop when Suraj Hati allegedly attacked the mother-daughter duo.
It is learnt that the families of Suraj and Payal have been at loggerheads over land dispute for quite a long time.
Following the attack, both Payal and her mother were rescued and rushed to Sambalpur District Headquarters Hospital. As their condition worsened, they were shifted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research.
It is learnt that Suraj absconded after committing the crime.
Indu owns a tailoring shop to run her family after her husband became sick, said sources.
