Bhubaneswar: A Delegation of the State government visited Malkangiri today to review the measures taken by the district administration to deal with heavy rains.
Department of Social Security and Empowerment of persons with Disabilities, Principal Secretary, Bishnupada Sethi, DG, Fire Services, Sudhanshu Sarangi and DIG of Police, Charan Singh Meena today held a review meeting on the situation in the Zilla Parishad conference room. District Collector, Ashish Patil and SP Nitesh Wadhwani briefed the delegation about the measures taken by the district administration to tackle rain.
Sethi appealed to take steps for electricity restoration, drinking water supply and safety of animal resources on priority basis. Mr. Sethi informed that all the damages will be assessed and the district administration will provide the assistance to the affected people.
Similarly, the fire department has informed that the ODRAF team will provide services until the situation is completely normal in the district.
The Fire Services DG said that the State government is constantly monitoring this sensitive situation. He also informed that the firemen who rendered their services in this natural calamity will be awarded at the state level. More necessary manpower and equipment will be provided to deal with this situation.
It is reported that 443 affected families have been provided with polythene. Similarly, 54 pregnant women have been shifted to safe places. 27 people were rescued by the fire brigade and 175 people were shifted to safe places. 6 Odraf teams have been elected in the district. Similarly, 5 fire teams are engaged in rescue work while 3 teams are engaged in road cleaning.
The state delegation appreciated the preparedness of the district administration and the people of the district for their cooperation
Additional District Collector, Revenue officials and senior police officials and others were present in the meeting.
