Bhubaneswar: The Health and Family Welfare Department has approved the inclusion of BSc and MSc Osteopathy Courses, under the State Council for Allied Medical Sciences functioning under the Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET).
Presently more than 100 undergraduate and postgraduate students are undergoing the Osteopathy programs at Sri Sri University and the candidates passing out from such courses need to register their qualifications under an appropriate Council.
“After careful examination, the State Government has approved the inclusion of the “BSc and MSc Osteopathy Course” under the State Council for Allied Medical Sciences functioning under DMET, Odisha and the candidates passing out from such courses from the state will be allowed to register their qualifications in the said Council of the State,” a notification issued by the H&FW Department stated.
The fees for registration or renewal of qualifications shall be determined by the council at par with other courses.
In 2018, the B.Sc. (Osteopathy) program was initiated by Sri Sri University, Bidyadharpur, Cuttack following the standards proposed by the World Health Organization in their ‘Benchmarks for Training in Osteopathy’ document, and the University offers two Programs namely B.Sc. “Osteopathy” is a Four-years Bachelor Degree Program and M.Sc. “Osteopathy” a Two years Master Degree Program.
