Bhubaneswar: As many as 21,329 ineligible ration cards were excluded following rigorous field verification across various districts. These exclusions were categorized into three groups: HRMS (Human Resource Management System), Income Taxpayers, and death cases, revealed Food Supplies Minister Krushna Chandra Patra.
Minister’s reply came in response to a query raised by MLA Aswini Kumar Patra.
As per the data shared by the Minister, 21,329 ration cards and 76,467 family members were excluded under HRMS, while 13,735 cards and 49,897 family members were removed due to income tax-related ineligibility. Additionally, 780,341 individuals were excluded due to death cases.
On the positive side, the state government has made significant progress in ensuring food security for eligible citizens. Out of the 17,56,873 applications received, 5,07,637 families and 10,05,121 members were included in the food security program after verification. However, 8,65,228 applications were rejected due to ineligibility, and 3,84,008 applications are still under verification.
The Food Supplies Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring transparency and fairness in the distribution of ration cards and food security benefits.
