Bhubaneswar: The state-level flag-lowering ceremony was held at the OSAP 7th Battalion premises in Bhubaneswar on Saturday, showcasing patriotism and cultural vibrancy. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The ceremony began with a spectacular musical performance by band players from various districts and battalions of the state police. The OSAP musicians energised the audience with bugle, pipe, brass, and string band performances. Popular patriotic tunes such as National Anthem, Vande Mataram, Saare Jahan Se Accha, Odisha Mo Odisha, and Bharat Ke Jawaan enthralled the crowd.
As the sun set, the national flag was ceremoniously lowered, followed by captivating dance performances. Jawans of OSAP 3rd Battalion, Koraput, performed the Dhemsa dance, while OSAP 2nd Battalion, Jharsuguda, along with their families, showcased the Khukuri dance. The Sambalpuri dance was presented by jawans of 5th IRBN, Boudh.
The event reflected the Odisha Police’s commitment to discipline, national unity, and cultural heritage. Present on the occasion were Odisha DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hemant Sharma, Commissioner of Police Suresh Devadatta Singh, Additional DG of Police (SAP) Rajesh Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police Narasingh Bhola, Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena, along with several retired senior police officers and eminent personalities.
