Bhubaneswar: A state-level preparatory meeting was held today at the conference hall of Lok Seva Bhavan under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, in preparation for the upcoming Odisha Day-2025 celebrations on April 1.
According to an official press release, this year, the “State-Level Odisha Day” will be celebrated with grandeur at Satyabhamapur in Salepur, Cuttack district, the birthplace of Utkal Gaurab Madhusudan Das.
Similarly, the day will be enthusiastically observed in the capital city Bhubaneswar, as well as in New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, various revenue divisions, districts, and sub-divisional headquarters across the state. The Chief Minister will attend the event as the chief guest at Satyabhamapur. In other locations, Ministers, Revenue Commissioners, and District Collectors will attend as guests.
The meeting was attended by Development Commissioner Anu Garg, along with various departmental principal secretaries, commissioners, secretaries, directors, and senior officials of the state administration. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary of the Information and Public Relations Department, provided details about the various programs to be organized for Odisha Day.
As per the discussions and decisions taken during the meeting, the state-level celebration at Satyabhamapur and the event at Jayadev Bhawan in Bhubaneswar will include a special photo exhibition on the formation of separate Utkal Province, public meetings, felicitation ceremonies, and award distribution programs.
Cultural programs will be organized by the Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department at both venues. On this occasion, floral tributes will be offered to the statues of eminent personalities of Odisha in Bhubaneswar and other locations.
Special editions of Utkal Prasanga and Odisha Review will be released. The state-level celebration at Satyabhamapur and the event at Jayadev Bhawan in Bhubaneswar will be broadcast live.
Statues of eminent personalities across the city will be cleaned, and their surroundings beautified. Government offices, corporations, and public sector undertakings in the capital will be illuminated.
In the context of the celebrations, the Chief Secretary stated that April 1, “Odisha Day,” is a day of pride and glory for all of us. He emphasized the need to celebrate the day in a vibrant, beautiful, and attractive manner across all locations and sought cooperation from all concerned departments.
The meeting was attended by, among others, Principal Secretary of the Works Department Vir Vikram Yadav, Tourism Department Commissioner and Secretary Balwant Singh, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, Director of the Culture Department Bijay Ketan Upadhyay, and Director (Technical) of the Information and Public Relations Department Surendra Nath Parida, along with senior officials from the Information and Public Relations Department and other related departments.
