Rourkela: The Special Task Force of State Crime Branch on Saturday busted a fake currency circulation racket in Rourkela. The sleuths seized notes with face value worth Rs 16.11 lakh during the raid carried out in Sector 17 area of the city.
The STF after being tipped about the activity set up a team with the Rourkela police and planned the raid. The STF arrested one Sk Ahemmad of Badarpur, Delhi, and seized the aforementioned notes from him. Ahemmad is an interstate operator of this illegal activity, an official said.
During a search, Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) of Rs 16,11,000, a Laptop, Color Printer and other incriminating articles were recovered from his possession. A case has been registered at Sector 15 Police Station, Rourkela in this connection. Further investigation is on, the STF official added.
