Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough, the Special Task Force (STF) of Commissionerate Police arrested two gun smugglers from Bihar, during a deal in Badagada area of Bhubaneswar. The STF seized one pistol, five country-made guns, and seven bullets from the accused.

The arrested smugglers, Pintu Kumar and Avinash Kumar, were allegedly involved in an inter-state arms trafficking network, supplying weapons to criminal elements in the region. The STF had been tracking their activities and finally apprehended them during the transaction.

This is not an isolated incident, as the Odisha Police has been intensifying its drive against inter-district and intra-state gangs to break the supply chain. Recently, the Commissionerate Police arrested two suspected members of an inter-state arms trafficking network and seized 11 firearms, including a carbine.
