Bhubaneswar: Even today, many superstitions are practised in the minds of many people in the name of tradition. Whether it is a highly educated civilized society or an uneducated scumbag, there is no difference in belief.
Among the people of a tribal community, there is a belief that if a child’s first tooth grows on the upper gum, then he or she will get various diseases.
The easiest way to break this omen is to get the child married to a tree or a dog.
There is a belief that after marriage the dog falls sick and dies.
With this, the child will be saved from various life-threatening diseases.
Today, two such weird marriages were conducted in Bandhasahi village under Shingakhunta Panchayat of Soro Block.
One Dari Singh’s son got married to a female dog while the daughter of Butu was married to a male dog.
This is done according to the tribal customs, the locals said. This morning villagers celebrated these two marriages with joy and gaiety.
