Bhubaneswar: The body of a newborn boy was discovered on the roadside in the Nayapalli area of the city on Thursday. The shocking incident came to light when locals noticed a pack of stray dogs scavenging the body.

Alarmed by the sight, residents immediately informed the Nayapalli police, who rushed to the scene and recovered the remains. The body has been sent for postmortem as part of the ongoing investigation.

Preliminary findings suggest that the infant’s body was dumped on the roadside, though the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. “We were horrified to see stray dogs feeding on the newborn’s body. It is heartbreaking to witness such a tragedy,” said a local resident.

The police have launched a probe to identify those responsible and are exploring leads to determine the events that led to the incident.
